Mr. Paul Krugman, recipient of the 2008 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, shared his views that inflation is not yet rooted in the psychology of economic agents. Core inflation is too high but is easing. Inflation is therefore non-persistent, and the economist sees no evidence of persistent inflation or of a stagflation like in the late 1970s.
